How do I cover dark circles? MAKEUP TIPS

by | Feb 27, 2021

“Please can you cover my dark circles?”

“Can you hide the bags under my eyes?”

Covering dark circles under the eyes is easily one of the top requests I get!

I totally understand… they don’t give you that fresh polished look and doing your makeup without covering them properly can sometimes draw even more attention to them.

There are many factors why you have dark circles:

  • Tiredness
  • Dehydration
  • Allergies
  • Age
  • Genetics

So, ensuring you get a good night’s sleep, drink plenty of water, and using skincare are some ways that could help improve the darkness long-term… But here are my go-to products and techniques I use on myself and my clients for every makeup application, to hide those pesky dark circles!

The product you need is corrector, a creamy thick product in certain tones that will colour correct, neutralise and eliminate any darkness and shadows under your eyes.

The one I use… Bobbi Brown corrector.

This was actually one of the first products I invested in for my kit, and I could not be without it!

The correctors come in a peach (orange) and bisque (pink) undertone, and they come in an array of shades from porcelain to very deep, catering for all.

How do I know what tone I need?

With no makeup and freshly cleansed skin look at your under eyes in natural light. You need to look for certain colours in the eye area:

Bluish and purple tones – you will need a bisque corrector.

Greenish and brown tones – you will need a peach corrector.

Now, you can either visit a counter or chat to a Bobbi Brown expert online to help colour match your skin tone.

Now here are some of the other products I mentioned to help brighten the darkness under the eyes.

Here are my favourites from my own collection and my kit:

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

Bobbi Brown Instant Full Cover Concealer

Clarins Instant Concealer

And to help stop creasing under your eyes I recommend using a large fluffy eye brush and a little powder to set the cream products in place. I love…

Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Powder

I do hope this post helps you to cover and hide those dark circles. For more makeup & skincare tips and advice head back to read my other posts. A new one is uploaded every month.
